As MRHS Spring Sports are underway, there is one team to keep an eye out on. With a new coach, a very fresh and new roster, and very high expectations. Mountain Range’s baseball team has a big season to look forward to.
The 2024-2025 season, the Mustangs finished 4-19 without winning a single league game. (0-12) being led by 9 seniors. This team had pitching struggles with an average ERA ( Earned Runs Allowed) of 9.58.
“We just didn’t have a consistent rotation, people either were throwing a really good 3 innings, or a terrible 3.” said Senior Cameron W. Who's looking to be that “Step up” to the top of the pitching rotation, along with Senior Shane F. Who was injured for a majority of the past season but had the 2nd best ERA with a 4.67.
With only 7 varsity returners, the Mustangs look for their younger teammates to take a step forward. “We're a super young team. 7 out of the 18 kids are seniors, and we're looking for the younger kids to step up in all aspects.” says Senior Brevin H. who is one of the team's 2 catchers.
“A goal of mine is to have a batting average over .320 and an ERA under 4.” Says sophomore Sol G. who is looking to improve off of his All Conference Honorable Mention freshman season. ”I'm hoping as a team we can win the league, mostly just improve our record based off of last season.”
When losing your top 3 hitters and pitchers (according to MaxPreps Stats), it takes a whole team to take that step forward, especially with a new coach.” Coach Stan has been great, he's done so much for us throughout this offseason and we're looking to make a culture change at MRHS.” says Senior Aaron R.
Overall there is a lot to look forward to this spring, but MRHS Baseball will be one to keep an eye out for. You can catch them at their first home game on Tuesday March 10th Vs. Loveland at 4pm.
