Introducing MRHS Journalism 2026-2027: Sophomores

Alexa C. or better known as Alex is from Kansas city, Missouri. Although she was born in America she's fluent in Spanish because of the fact she's a Mexican herself. As a baby still in the womb her parents made the decision to move the day before the Joplin tornado had hit her area believe it or not.Now you may be asking “where to?” well they decided to settle here in the heart of Colorado, Denver. In elementary school she had such high scores on her test, that she had scored herself a ticket to the Children's Museum and in Middle school she won Student of the Month in 8th grade. While not having a career planned in mind.What we can know for sure is that she's a Sophomore MRH Journalism student with goals to be able to graduate and perhaps get her first dream car. She has tons of interest in reading but never writing a book,but when she stumbled upon a book called “Call of the Wild” By Jack London it was then that it was like Life itself leaned into listening. Strangely enough that was the first book where her obsession with wolves and dogs started, but outside of school related topics, what she has planned in mind is becoming a meteorologist in hopes to chase tornadoes of course, but if that doesn't go to plan she has a backup to go into being a musician. She also has a youtube channel where she occasionally posts videos of her being a “gamer girl”.

Aaron S. was born in Colorado with immigrant parents. He has the 2nd rarest achievement in HL2:E2. Aaron has signed up for Journalism for sophomore year. He likes to play first person shooters, puzzle games, and factory games. Aaron has traveled five times to Laos, three times in Mexico, and one time to Thailand. He also has an interest in animation and map making. Aaron has played the trombone before and has also gone fishing.  Aaron is hoping to get a good grade in Journalism and plans to take something else. He’s interested in Sci Fi and stuff like Dyson Spheres, Warp drives, Star Wars, and futuristic weapons continue his interest. He’s considering buying some Tom Clancy books and buying some subscriptions or disks for Interstellar and 2001 A Space Odyssey.

Aiden R. is a sophomore at Mountain Range High School who loves to edit videos, socialize and try out new sports. This is Aiden's first year taking a journalism class. Writing and typing have never been on his bright side so he thought about taking the class to try to change his mind about typing and writing. Aiden also loves to watch UFC, NFL and the NHL. He loves all types of sports. He is very prideful about how he knows lots about sports. He's also excited to meet new friends this coming school year. Although all of the school work Aiden has to do is a lot. In his free time he edits Youtube and TikTok videos about all of his gaming clips. He's been doing this for about a year now and says that's his dream job. This is why Aiden thinks journalism would be a perfect fit to his schedule, since he always has things to talk about.

Jaylah V. is a 15 year old sophomore student at Mountain Range High School who is hoping for a year full of fantastic accomplishments, memories, and friends. Jaylah first discovered her love for writing when she was about 10 years old in 4th grade after writing a story about a butterfly and lady bug who were best friends. Ever since, Jaylah has always put extra effort into her English writing assignments, which led her to sign up for the Journalism program at her school. Jaylah has just recently parted ways with her competitive gymnastics career where she earned herself multiple state and regional titles as well as many friendships. Besides her admiration for the sport of artistic gymnastics, Jaylah also enjoys baking, reading,

and going for runs outside. Jaylah is originally from Pueblo, Colorado but at the age of 5 she and her family moved to Northglenn, Colorado. There she lives with her mother, Britney, who she adores dearly and her two adorable dogs, Oso and Rosie. Jaylah applauds Kathleen Glasgow and Holly Jackson as authors and often takes inspiration from their writing. Her taste in music is exceptionally broad. Including artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Malcolm Todd, Steve Lacy, and A$ap Rocky. Jaylah enjoys writing about meaningful/emotional topics as well as topics revolving around the sport or athletes of artistic gymnastics. Jaylah's closest friends would tell you she is very detail oriented and organized in everything she takes part in, as well as someone who tries her best to show kindness to everyone she interacts with.

Kaytlin C. is an ambitious Sophomore at Mountain Range High with a strive for excellence and impact in her community. Through her experiences through NJHS and Freshman STUGO she has gotten a taste of the change

she can make for the better. She is dedicated to making lasting changes to the environment and creating meaningful experiences. From her love for nature, to her deep connection to art and music, she is driven to write about what beauty the world has to offer. Her greatest literary influences range from George Orwell, with his themes that carry on throughout history, John Steinbeck, and his emotional masterpieces, to Gaston Leurox, who created the book which countless adaptations are based on. She is not afraid of honesty, providing you with harsh truths; but always putting an optimistic spin on them. With her big heart, full of emotions and thoughtfulness, there is no doubt she will make people care about her projects. Outside of the classroom, she is known to express her creativity through her art, sit and enjoy sitcoms, or flipping through the CD section of her local thrift store. 

Natalia P. is a determined sophomore student at MRHS. Natalia has many hobbies and interests, but one of her favorites is writing about things that she thinks are important/interesting, which is why she wanted to take Journalism as a class. Natalia fell in love with writing in elementary school. Especially after she learned how to write in cursive, and now it’s all she does. When she gets bored or just feels like writing she writes about anything that comes to her mind, and she could write for hours. If you were to ask anyone about her they would most likely tell you that she’s funny, outgoing, and passionate about things that are important to her. An example would be true crime. Natalia can talk about her conspiracy theories for hours when it comes to true crimes. Other things that interest Natalia are: Volleyball, horror movies, T.V. series, music, trying different things, and learning about history.

Theodore W is a committed student at Mountain Range High School, with a passion for video games, his passion got the attention of over 1K followers on Tiktok, getting the noticed multiple times by the Roblox Tiktok account, getting followed by the official Rec Room account, and having multiple fan arts of him being made! When he first started playing video games, it was a space that he could unleash his creativity, communicate with others he could never, and create connections with others across the globe, this made him develop a passion for being able to create things he and others could interact and play with. He enjoys writing horror stories, thrillers, stories about pop culture and current world and local events. Thank you for reading about his story!
