Tis’ the Season to Get Back into Spirit!

By Jarrett B

It's that time of year to come together during the holidays and share your experiences from the past year, and celebrate for the future amongst loved ones. However, hanging out with family isn’t all of it. First of all, you have to get into that holiday spirit; you have to base your life around it from now until the first week of January. You have to be prepared, and there’s no better way to do this than decoration! It’s tradition, it’s mandatory, it’s been around since the beginning of man. It doesn't have to be only for the holidays either; you can do it in your everyday life. From candles and plants, to posters, clocks, or other hangable items, decoration is something almost everyone can do for any event.

For this time of the year, it seems as if decorations are more important than ever. There are decorations that are hung up for a very short amount of time, and decorations everyone loves to set up. It goes beyond just your mom decorating the house because she found a new “Live Laugh Love” sign, or your dad putting up his new favorite beer or sports team poster up, or the kids in the house wanting to help decorate the Christmas tree. This is one of the few times throughout the year where the entire household will want to get involved. So, with that, how popular is room decorating for teens, and what are some of the best decorations?

Some of the most popular decorations among teens include LED lights, mini trees, other string decorations like snowflakes, or holiday picture frames, but there are also some lesser known ones that some big name brands sell. Urban Outfitters sells an “Iridescent Decor Star” set, Nordstrom has a “Live Tree” in a can, and Amazon has, obviously, countless decorations for all styles. That’s one of the great things with the holidays: there are so many different opportunities and styles that anyone and everyone can decorate their rooms to their personal preference. Decorating, especially bedrooms among teens, has become a very popular activity recently, and during the holidays, it can be another way to really bring families together. Plus, the possibilities are endless. With the amount of shopping that can be done today, you can decorate your room with almost everything. From Target’s $3-$5 section and Hobby Lobby to Amazon and Etsy, the options for shopping are limitless. Get out there and start decorating! It’ll be worth it! Maybe you can even listen to Mariah Carey's “All I Want for Christmas is You” while you’re at it.
