As of January 16, 2025. Adams 12 5 Star Schools has settled on the new calendar for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. Here's some of the biggest changes, and student reactions to them.

6th and 9th graders will get to experience an actual Orientation day.

“I like the idea of the orientation day back. As someone who is a part of Link Crew where we get to be with those kids on their first day is something I think all incoming 6th and 9th graders should experience,” said Preston B.(11th), a member of Link Crew (students involved in orientation.) The current 11th grade class is the most recent one to have had a proper orientation day.

There will be a reduction in the number of shortened school weeks.

“I kind of understand why but it really sucks. I just would rather have more time off during my senior year,” explains Eric D.(11th) who will be already getting out of school early because of senior graduation. Senioritis is the main reason he wanted more breaks.

There will be school on Veterans Day.

“I think it's disrespectful, especially if you have veterans in your family you should be able to spend the day with them and celebrate,” says Preston B.(11th), who disagrees with the change.

Mid-winter Break will be shorter, and school will end before Memorial Day.

“I like this a lot. As since every year I feel like the Mid-winter Break isn't as big of an issue to me, though,” commented Dylan H.(10th)

Spring Break will be the last week of March

“This doesn't really bother me or affect me. I mean, more of my friends at other schools have this same spring break so that's a plus,” stated Fran R.(10th).

While there will no doubt be positive and negative feedback, keep in mind Adams 12 tries to do what's best for the families, students, and staff by using surveys and listening to family feedback on these new changes. You can see the new calendar here.
