It seems like almost every year the Adams 12 district comes up with a new schedule. So naturally, it's happening again. For the 2025-2026 school year, there will be a new schedule that will end school a week early while still including some weeks off.
One of the most controversial parts of the schedule for this year was the late end of school. This year school ends on May 29th which is the last Thursday of the month. This was due to all the extra weeks off that were included in the schedule. This year the February mid-winter break is being removed. They are also bringing spring break up to March. They are still keeping fall break and thanksgiving break for next year. The senior graduation date has not been released yet.
There have been no changes done to the start time and end time released to the public yet. Wednesdays are also set to still have academic support. Although some students want Wednesdays to end early, a lot of students like to take advantage of academic support to study for classes, come in for help, or do homework. On normal days classes will begin at 7:40 and end at 3:10. Passing periods and class lengths have also not been modified.
With new cuts coming to the department of education, there might be some changes appearing as the year starts. At this point in time it is estimated that class sizes will likely increase. This also will mean that the most qualified people will be getting the AP classes who show proficiency in their previous classes. Electives that are not as popular will also face cuts to help manage the new budget. Other than that not much is set to change except the materials that the teachers will have and be able to provide to the students.
There have been desires for 4 day weeks floating around. "On paper, a four day school week sounds fantastic, but I feel like in reality it would just give us another opportunity to procrastinate, and it probably wouldn't help very much in the end," commented Benny M. (11). If implemented, 4 day weeks would mean school on Monday through Thursday, with Fridays included in the weekend. This would also make Wednesdays full length days and take away the number of breaks that Adams 12 would have.
In the end, although this is the final revision of the calendar, it is still subject to change. 4 day weeks may not come this year but they might come in the future. Graduates next year should be on the lookout for any information regarding the important senior dates.
