Coach Harrington Steps Down After Being Head Coach For 4 Years

By Cayden M.
Jeff Harrington, head wrestling coach at Mountain Range High School, is stepping down after many years of coaching the sport.
Harrington says he is stepping down due to his family. His kids are getting older and going to middle school now, so their schedules are changing. He also mentioned that his parents are getting older, and he needs to be there to help them out. “I need to be there for my wife, my kids, and my family”.

Being a head coach involves a lot of responsibilities. This includes taking calls, paperwork, being responsible for the entire team and even setting up wrestling tournaments. However, the new head coach will be Adrian Green. Coach Green isn’t new to wrestling though. He has been coaching for years, “I coached youth level to even college level” stated by Green.
Harrington believes that switching with Coach Green would be a great idea. He says it will be good for the program because Coach Green knows a lot more wrestling guys out there that he can bring into the team to help them out. Harrington also stated that, “It would be beneficial to you guys (the wrestlers), actually because now I get to wrestle with you guys more in the room because I won’t be head coach anymore.”
Harrington says that this is going to be a great year for the wrestling team because Coach Green will start bringing in new coaches that are very knowledgeable and that they could help other wrestlers find their own kind of style.
A lot of the team considers Harrington like family. Wrestler Bryce S. says of his departure, “It’s going to be a bit weird without Harrington because Harrington was more vocal and fast paced during practices while Coach Green is more quiet and focuses more on drilling a lot. But my goals are still the same no matter what.” Harrington has been wrestling ever since he was able to walk. He knows the team could really benefit from his years of coaching. However, he feels he has to take care of his own needs and family first above all.
